WHAT IS 3D PRINTING?
3D printing is a reinvented technology whereby the average Joe is now able to design and produce custom 3D pieces from the convenience of his own home. The concept of the process is that a user can create a design, send it to the printer, which will split the object into thousands of layers like a deck of cards, and then the printer will lay each layer in place, as it was designed, printing vertically, until the final 3D object is achieved.
A CONDENSED HISTORY OF 3D PRINTING
With the original invention of the inkjet printer in 1976, Mr. Charles Hull reinvented the idea to print with materials instead of ink. 3D Printing was officially born in 1984 and was initially applied to fields of architecture, engineering and prototyping.
Mr. Charles Hull invented stereolithography which is a process that allows a tangible 3D object to be produced from digital data. Today, Mr. Charles Hull is the founder of Cubify, which is our parent company, in terms of 3D printing, in the United States. Over the years, many applications have been achieved through the use of 3D printers, including, but not limited to: creation of working prosthetics; creation of edible food items; creation of furniture pieces, apparel items, even replacement crowns for teeth! The future of 3D printing points us in a very futuristic and unimaginable economy and culture.

A little over two years ago we were thinking, "Why do we need a 3D Printer?" We looked at printers available and asked ourselves,what can we print with it? The internet was stocked with figurines, pop icons, toys, life hacks, and stuff. Cute, yes, but hardly reasons to justify purchasing a printer.
Then we got it! The answer to "Why do I need a 3D Printer?" should be … "because there's all of THIS to print ...." so we took on the mission to give you hundreds, and soon thousands of reasons to own a 3D Printer.
